Yash Desai

  • Biography

Yash Desai (b.1994) is a visual artist based in Baroda. He holds MVA Printmaking and BVA Applied Art from the M.S. University of Baroda. Working as painter, printmaker & applied artist, he is also interested in 19th-century photographic printmaking processes, where he is exploring and working in iron, chromium, and silver-based processes.

Yash’s practice deals with the scenario of the environment changing in the age of climate crisis, deforestation, and urbanisation. His works encapsulate his travels where the sublime experience of the rural landscape, a rapidly changing scenery, and the fragmented elements from urban scenes shape the visuals.. Currently, he is working on a set of images with 19th-century photographic processes, and experimenting with it on different surfaces.
