Artist Statement
Through my artistic endeavors, I strive to delve into the intricate concept of time and the interplay between human activities and their surrounding environment. My artistic practice serves as a manifestation of socio-political engagement, reflecting its impact on the dynamic interplay of ecological and cultural landscapes in a state of flux. In this particular piece, I aim to unravel the essence of human existence and explore social dynamics using a diverse array of materials such as canvas, repurposed wood, charcoal, iron, brick dust cement, paint, small video clips, and textual elements, including lines from Jibanananda Das's poem 'Aadbhut Aadhar Ak' – "Aadbhut Aadhar Ak Aseche A- Prithibite Ajj..." The incorporation of this text, utilized as a background surface to evoke a sense of urgency, adds layers of meaning to the work.
The amalgamation of these materials forms a compelling and cohesive visual language that effectively communicates my profound concerns about the rapidly evolving fabric of our surroundings. This extends beyond the physical structures of houses, states, and countries to encompass the broader spectrum of people's lives, their standards of living, and the intricate web of social dynamics that define our contemporary existence.
