Nandita Mukherjee

Born in West Bengal in 1980 and now based in Dehradun, Nandita Mukherjee is a seasoned artist and educator. Over the past two decades, she has explored various painting mediums, currently working with ink, pigment, and gouache. Her series Embodied Myth examines the narratives embedded in everyday objects that have transformed through time and human interaction. Nandita is fascinated by how objects—often overlooked—become silent storytellers, carrying the marks of history and personal stories.

Her work reflects the philosophy of erosion and transformation, where the wear and tear on objects becomes a visual language, speaking to their journey and the lives they’ve touched. Nandita uses engraving, ink, and pigment to capture these histories, with an emphasis on surfaces that embody the decay and beauty of time.

Her art ties into the exhibition theme Precarious, exploring the fragile, transient nature of both physical forms and the myths they carry, highlighting how these stories endure despite their impermanence
