Born in 1994 (West Bengal), Brojeswer studied painting at Government College of Art, Kolkata, followed by completing his Masters from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Brojeswer Mondal’s sinuous lines weave a web of visual memories and perceptions that transports the observer into a world of broken landscapes and liminal spaces, on the precipice of artistic inquiry.
His works have been inspired by the tradition of Japanese drawing and landscape painting of Rabindranath Tagore. His art depicts the geographical impression, where some topographical landscapes have been simplified and turned into an abstracted imagery, often serene and meditative in nature. Brojeswer emphasises the natural site, insignificant corner, and unassuming objects, that become a meditative affair rather than cerebral.
Mondal has found poetry in the lines and hues, gently playing with the transient nature of shifting ecologies. The poetics of his imagery plays with the idea of fragmentation, presenting a mosaic of patterns and colours existing on the precipice of abstraction and symbolism.
Brojeswer was part of the Kochi student biennale 2020- 2021
