Ashima Raizada

Ashima Raizada

Ashima Raizada (b. 1994), based in India, is an artist whose practice spans diverse mediums, including photography and collage. Her work is deeply rooted in everyday observations and philosophical concepts, often drawing inspiration from movements like Abstraction and Mixed Media while simultaneously expanding their boundaries. Central to her artistic exploration is the idea of “self” and its representations, which she investigates through photography and mixed media. The notion of “play” further enriches her creative process, bringing a dynamic and exploratory dimension to her work.

Over the years, Ashima has developed multiple series that delve into these themes, pushing the limits of visual storytelling. Her works challenge conventional narratives while embracing experimentation, creating a distinctive voice within contemporary art.

Her achievements include being a finalist for the Lucie Scholarship Program 2024 and receiving the Generator Art Production Grant 2024. She has exhibited her work in prestigious spaces such as XXL Gallery’s “The Desired Scaffold” (Mumbai, 2024), Dhi Art Space’s “Highly Grainy” (Hyderabad, 2024), and the group show “Beyond The Gaze” at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Bangladesh (2024). She also participated in the Experimental Photo Festival in Barcelona (2023).
In 2018, Ashima was recognized by Hindustan Times as one of the Top 30 under 30 young achievers, a testament to her exceptional talent and contribution to the arts.
