Printmaking has long held a space between the intimate and the democraticโrooted in tradition, yet constantly evolving through experimentation. With Original Shadows, we are delighted to present a carefully curated survey of contemporary printmaking that not only honours the legacy of the medium but also introduces the bold and diverse voices defining its possibilities today.
This exhibition brings together a range of emerging practitioners working across techniquesโfrom etchings and woodcuts to lithographs, linocuts, and hybrid processes that push the boundaries of the printed image. Each work is the result of a meticulous, hands-on engagement with material, surface, and time. While the final print may appear silent, it holds within it traces of pressure, movement, repetition, and resistance.
What makes this show especially meaningful is its invitation to learn. Through simple explanations of process and historical context, Original Shadows hopes to open up printmaking to a new generation of viewers and collectorsโthose curious not just about what contemporary art looks like, but how itโs made and why it matters. In doing so, we hope to create space for deeper engagement: with the medium, with the maker, and with the enduring tension between the original and the multiple.
As a gallery committed to mentoring emerging talent and building new pathways of understanding and appreciation, this exhibition reflects our belief that art must be both seen and decodedโfelt, but also known.
We invite you to look closely, linger longer, and let these shadows reveal the many layers of printmakingโs original voice.
