Through a series of drawings and woodcut prints, Naveen portrays the intimate relationship between farmers and their land, capturing not only their labor but also the rich cultural heritage that shapes their way of life. Naveen hails from Tekkali village in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, and his artistic practice is deeply rooted in the life and traditions of farmers. Growing up in an agricultural family, with his father as a farmer, he spent much of his childhood in the fields—observing every step of the farming process, from cultivation to harvest. This firsthand experience gave him insight into the struggles farmers face, including
harsh climatic conditions and water scarcity, as well as the enduring strength drawn from age-old rituals and traditions.
His work reflects the essence of rural life—its hardships, resilience, and the spiritual practices that farmers uphold to seek prosperity. Inspired by these cultural
customs and the collective faith of his village community, Naveen explores the deeper meanings behind these traditions, which left a lasting impression on him
since childhood.
As a printmaking student, he finds woodcut and drawing to be ideal mediums for expressing these narratives.
