The branches are bound with ties bearing national flags, symbolising how nations are entangled through economic identities, power structures, and global systems of trade. Hardev draws attention to the imbalance within these systems, where frameworks shaped by dominant economies often entrap weaker nations. In this context, modern colonialism no longer operates through military force, but through tariffs, trade wars, and economic dependencies that keep developing countries vulnerable and locked into cycles of exploitation.
