Art Incept is delighted to present ten artists at Art Mumbai this year, at Booth C78. The presentation brings together painting, printmaking, drawing, photography and mixed media by Anirudh Acharya, Chinmayee Behera, Deepanjali Shekhar, KM. Khushboo, Pankaj Chouhan, Rajat Kumar, Ram Dongre, Santanu Dey, Satyanarayana Gavara and Sunil Yadav. Their practices differ widely, but several concerns run through the booth. Memory and absence appear in Rajat Kumar’s quiet interiors, Ram Dongre’s erased canvases and Anirudh Acharya’s digitally transformed photographs. Ecology and a changing landscape drive the work of Chinmayee Behera, Pankaj Chouhan and Santanu Dey, who builds with carbon black foraged from print shops and with discarded lithography plates. Satyanarayana Gavara’s woodcuts, born of a family of tenant farmers, and KM. Khushboo’s etchings and dry points on impermanence show printmaking as a living contemporary language. Deepanjali Shekhar’s tea-toned botanical drawings and Sunil Yadav’s geometric systems drawn from leaves, maps and architecture show close attention to the world around us. Together, these artists show some of the most distinctive voices in emerging South Asian art.
