Biography

Hardev Chauhan (b. 1995) is a Baroda-based visual artist specializing in printmaking and painting. His practice draws from close observation of everyday life, translating ordinary moments into layered, process-driven narratives. Trained in Applied Art at Sheth C. N. College of Fine Art, Ahmedabad, and Printmaking at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, his work spans drawing, painting, printmaking, and textile-inspired forms to explore themes of memory, labor, domesticity, and the shifting dynamics between urban and rural life. Chauhan has exhibited extensively in India at venues such as Rukshaan Art, Method Gallery, Conflictorium Museum, Priyasri Gallery, and Anant Art, with international exposure in Marseille, France. His solo exhibition Tales of Threads & Everyday Twists (2022, New Delhi) examined the poetics of the mundane through material layering. Supported by residencies, scholarships, and features in publications like Clearline Magazine, his evolving practice reflects a quiet complexity, positioning him as a thoughtful emerging voice in contemporary Indian art.
