Nishchay Thakur
Biography
Born in 1998 (Madhya Pradesh), Nishchay studied sculpture at Indira Kala Sangit
Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, followed by a Masters from the College of Art, New Delhi.
His work is based on wide range of media and process, focusing on issues of cultural identity and memories in the context of rural society. Smell of the soil, the expressive faces of the villagers, and the flora and fauna influenced him. Ironically, he senses a gradual shift to a more consumeristic behaviour even in the villages. Through his work he aims to retain that essence of our rural traditions.
Nischay received the Lalit Kala Academi Scholarship 2021-2022 and is the Inception Grant 2022 awardee. He was selected for Kochi Muziris Student Biennale 2020.
